John (Jack) W. Wilmer serves as the Senior Policy Advisor for Cybersecurity and IT Modernization within the Office of Science & Technology Policy. He works to advance the President’s technology agenda by fostering new ideas and encouraging government-wide coordination to help the country meet its goals from job creation, to modernizing federal infrastructure, to protecting the homeland.
Prior to this role, Mr. Wilmer served in various executive leadership roles in the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense (DoD). These roles include serving as the Vice Director for the 1200+ person, $1B+ organization responsible for development, acquisition, and evolution of all new capabilities provided by Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), ran the 275+ person, $600M+ organization responsible for all of DISA’s cyber defense capabilities, and served as the Deputy Chief Techology Officer for Enterprise Services. Prior to his government service, Mr. Wilmer served 10+ years in industry in various software engineering, program management, and executive leadership roles.
Mr. Wilmer graduated with honors from Princeton University where he achieved a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in Computer Science, and was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service in 2016.
